  • The Aspire Summer School invites applications from asylum seekers, refugees, and other forced migrants to join Cardiff University for 8 days of free classes.

    • Mornings: English lessons (Easy, Intermediate, Advanced)

    • Afternoons: Classes about Human Rights, Careers in Health and Law, Project Management, and more! 📚

    You can apply if you are:

    • 18+ years old 🎂
    • An asylum seeker, refugee, or have any other forced migrant status 🌍
    • Able to speak some English (e.g. talk about your day) 🗣️

    • 📅 Dates: 22 June – 1 July 2026
    • ⏰ Hours: 09:00 – 15:00
    • 📍 Location: Cardiff University Cathays campus
    • Food: Free breakfast & lunch
    • Travel:
      o   Free train tickets (maximum 1.5 hours travel to Cardiff)
      o   Free bus tickets in Cardiff

    • Children: You can bring your child or children. You are responsible for them at all times.

    This application form will be used to ascertain eligibility for this programme and to contact you should you be successful in gaining a place.

    We will also use information for evaluating our activities, monitoring their effectiveness and purposes, and to see whether our participants go on to study in Higher Education. This data will also inform research which helps us ensure we are interacting with a wide range of students.

    Data and information used for evaluation and reporting purposes will be anonymised should it be shared or published. Personal data from individuals who participate in Widening Participation activities will be retained for a minimum period of 5 years after the end of the project.

    Personal data from unsuccessful applicants will be retained for one year following the application closing date.

    Your data will be retained and shared with Cardiff University departments (e.g. academic schools, Lifelong Learning team and English Language Programmes team) where relevant.
